Apple Orchard

The Gigis came to town! We were so excited for their visit and loved every minute of it, except the part where we had to say goodbye. Wesley was in heaven with all of their attention and love. They taught us and our good friends, the Bludorns, how to play Texas 42. Then on Saturday morning, we went on a little adventure with some of our friends.

Just northeast of Lubbock is a little town called Abernathy. There is an apple orchard there that is too cute! Last year was our first year to go to the apple festival and we must admit, we were a bit disappointed. BUT it wasn't their fault. Because of the drought, all of the apples were teeny tiny.

This year we missed the festival but decided to go to one of their weekend events. "Pink ladies, Pumpkins and Pancakes" was the theme. They served apple pancakes, had a pumpkin patch and you could go pick as many pink ladies as you could find.

That was the problem. Because we missed the festival, we basically missed the apples. Most of them were gone or rotten on the tree/ground. We found about a dozen (total) and they were very small. Did I mention the trees with pink ladies were the last few rows in the orchard...? Talk about a long walk to get almost nothing.

So to stay entertained, the boys shot baskets with rotten apples into their buckets. Then we played a little in the pumpkin patch. We declared it, "Wesley's Hay Day!" He loved the hay and even made a friend with a scarecrow and a ghost!

We love Gigimom and Gigidad and we hope to see y'all soon!
