Little Man

He's a little man, isn't he? He's always been one. Since the day he was born, he came out looking like this little old man. He's definitely got this "old soul" too. I know it seems silly to say that about a kid who isn't even a year old, can't say real words or feed himself. But he definitely has this rich spirit inside that adorable body. God has blessed us with a wonderful son.

Wesley is a walker. And a crawler. A dancer. And a singer, sometimes. Guitarist. Drummer. Lover of all things Elmo and his elephants. And the water baby I got for my 18th birthday. Lover of his mom and especially dad.  We generally watch either "Elmo's Music Magic" or "Elmo in Grouchland" at least once a day while Dad is off to school and work. (We I need to break this habit.) Usually when we watch it, Wesley is as close to the TV as possible and I'm laying on the couch. Sometimes he'll come over and lay his head on me. Just the other day he pulled me close and kissed me :). He's a such a sweetheart. It's during these few hours in the day, when it's just me and him that I feel the most grateful for him.

Dad is his best friend. The person who can make him laugh the hardest and longest. His playmate, his rescuer and hero. The one he looks for when the front door opens. The one he always wants to hold him and cuddle him.

But I'm his mom. I know he loves me just as much as his best friend. He smiles so big when I come in to get him from a nap. He panics when I leave the room. He knows our routines and expects the good and bad from me (like when I pull him from a bath and lay him down to lather him in lotion from head to toe... pure torture for him... and consequently me too.)

He is the highlight of each day. And he's growing so fast.

This little one turns ONE in about 2 weeks. Oh I think I just cried.

  1. They do grow up so fast...I look at ethan and realize he won't be my baby for much longer. I wish I could freeze time sometimes...
