Eventually, successfully.
I also decided that in my efforts to learn how to bake, I would document via picture-taking. This is not only for your enjoyment, but also for me to see how far I've come. (And hopefully I'll come pretty far from where I am today :)) In my attempts to learn as I go, I'm hoping this will help me figure out my mistakes as well.
So without further ado, here is my first attempt at baking a loaf of bread.
1st mistake: Never trust a recipe that seems too good to be true because it's just too easy. It's too easy to even be bread.
2nd mistake: Once you've followed all of the instructions, realize that this recipe doesn't call for yeast, and it won't form into a pretty ball, you might want to just start over with a NEW recipe. But I didn't, as you can tell, and this is what we've got...
Next on the road to becoming a baker: My attempt at baking Paula Deen's "Grandgirl's Fresh Apple Cake."
1st mistake: Don't try to bake this with something else at a higher temperature. The middle didn't cook as well as I wanted and I couldn't keep it in any longer because the top, bottom and sides were beginning to burn. (Hence the blackened cake) Travis was making an apple pie and I was making this cake. We decided to bake them together because we were on a bit of a time crunch, but this meant I had to bake at a higher temperature for less time. It wasn't bad though and I think it actually tastes better on the second day. I see true potential here and I'm hoping with my next attempt it'll come out better.
Next attempt? Who knows when or what it'll be, but I'm hoping it'll be delicious and a true success.
Baby countdown: 6 weeks left TODAY! ahhh! My mom had both my sisters 4 weeks early. That would be me having a baby in 2 WEEKS! That. is. crazy.
