Lesson learned.

Travis asked me to make an effort to get out of the house at least once a day. This is to help keep me sane. So today I decided that we (me and Wesley) would do some Christmas shopping while Travis was at school. I decided after his 2:30pm feeding I would bundle him up and we'd head out the door. The car usually puts him to sleep so I figured it would be perfect timing for his nap.

Well the little booger fell asleep while I was burping him. I couldn't get him to wake up. So I put him in his crib and got ready. I got dressed, actually put makeup on, packed our diaper bag and then I realized that it was cold outside. Wesley was in long sleeves and pants but his little hands and toes would probably freeze. I decided he needed mittens, socks and a hat on. Well, he started to fuss as I put these things on him. I then picked him up out of his crib and discovered a moist surprise.

He wet through his diaper.

That's when the screaming and crying began. Poor guy was so mad that I was changing him and cleaning him up. I finally got him dressed and bundled and buckled in his car seat. He was still hysterical but we were finally ready to walk out the door. Then I had another realization.

I locked my keys in the car and Travis was gone with the other key.

So lesson learned. I won't wake Wesley for an outing unless it's absolutely necessary. I also won't wake him until I'm entirely sure we are leaving. Until I know without a doubt that I have my keys. Better yet, I'll try to not wake him at all.

  1. Hahaha... Just read this. Kinda reminds me of the first time I took Savanna out on my own and came straight back home after we went a block away. Yep, it gets better :) haha...
